Analog Light Meters

Analog light meters are among the devices to exist before digital technology was involved in photography. The main difference between analog and digital light meters is the means by which measurements are displayed to the user. In analog technology, a needle transits a background scale in direct response to signals coming from the measurement apparatus. The analog benefit is that it can give more accurate and fluid readings in situations where light changes.
